Homelessness impacts thousands of kids in NYC alone.
This means many kids go to school without their basic needs met, let alone fresh school supplies. In order to help kids start the school year off with confidence, Operation Backpack, supported by Volunteers of America - Greater New York Area, has created the infrastructure for people to donate supplies to schools in need.
Not to mention - all the materials needed to pack a bag can be found in NYC Duane Reade stores! That way, shoppers can easily pack a bag for kids in their community.
GoodXChange decided to support this initiative after reading a heart wrenching article in the New York Times. According to Principal Ramos, nearly half of the students at P.S. 188 are homeless.
It was clear that an lump-sum of money and materials could do a world of difference there.
With each share of the video below on social media, $1 was “unlocked” back to Operation Backpack.
